Hiking is a recreational activity or exercise that involves taking long and vigorous walks on trails and footpaths. The following are a few types of hiking:

1. Nature trail

This form of hiking trail involves a short and moderate distance. It allows the hiker to learn and study natural processes in the park, unusual plants, and other interesting natural occurrences. For this trail, hikers receive pamphlets containing signs and information about the hiking environment to make the hike more enjoyable.

2. Foot trail

The most common type of hiking is the foot trail. It is the type of trail where the hiker decides on the length of distance to go, the kind of terrain, and the environment. Foot hikers can choose to go on trails with a rocky and strenuous path that leads to mountain tops and hills or go on smoothly paved sidewalks that usually pass through urban areas and cities.

3. Loop trail

This type of trail involves hiking through routes that lead to different interest points for the hiker. Loop trail provides the hiker with the opportunity to explore other paths at once in a single trip.

4. Backcountry trail

This type of hiking trail exists in areas without permanent buildings and maintained roads. Non-motorized and motorized users can access these trails.

5. Frontcountry trail

In contrast to backcountry trails, this type limits contact with the civilized world while focusing on enjoyable hiking experiences within developed areas. Here, hikers enjoy the interpretative and spectacular features associated with urban and semi-urban environments.
